Physical development is achieved through a rigorous athletic and physical education program. Each cadet participates at the intercollegiate, club or intramural level each semester, which readies the cadet for the physical demands of military life and helps teach good judgment and self-discipline, while under mental and physical stress.
The USMA physical program provides cadets an opportunity to compete at their highest level of ability in an array of competitive intercollegiate athletic teams that emphasize "winning championships," leadership development, growth in character, ethical conduct and sportsmanship.
